Today, I worked on two necklace projects. The first is having fun with large plastic needles used in crocheting and knitting to sew pieces into a finished garment or other items. I acquired these needles when I thought I could use them to teach beading to young children. I soon realized that the needles were too large for beads to fit through, so the idea of dinosaur teeth or bones came to life. It was my first time bringing my idea to life, and I was happy with the result. Take a look:

The second project is to prepare for the patriotic season with red, white, and blue.
In both cases, I opted to keep patterns simple so that they would be appropriate for teaching young children. I also used yarn and no needle. This is the second iteration of this project, and I found it easier to conceptualize than last year.
Update: when I taught my son’s 1st grade class, I ended up not using a needle for the most case. I think one child asked to use one.
